EHC introduces Vida Cork^TM. This line is imported in the US exclusively by EHC and includes Vida Cork^TM planks, Vida Cork^TM tiles and Vida Cork^TM textiles. The planks and tiles are beautiful, durable, easy-to-install and easy-to-maintain. The textiles won't be found for sale anywhere else.

We are pleased to be selling Vida Cork^TM products, not only because we love the product, but because we know we are doing business with a like-minded company. The family owned manufacturing business has been making cork flooring for 18 years. They focus on high quality and unique designs including colors and styles that we haven't seen anywhere else. Our CEO traveled to Portugal to meet face-to-face with the family that owns the factory.

During the trip, he learned that the manufacturer follows sustainability practices by 1) treating their employees as valued stakeholders, 2) streamlining the production process and using manufacturing by-products to save resources and reduce energy costs over the long-term, and by 3) manufacturing products from one of the most sustainable raw materials on the planet, cork!

For instance, the factory is moving 60 kilometers away. But all employees will keep their jobs. The owner is paying for ALL his employees (90% women) to move to this new location. In addition, the factory has state-of-the-art equipment, is clean and safe, and is a very well-lighted, pleasant place to work.

The company holds no standing inventory and produces products to order. Currently, the only manufacturing by-product is cork dust. Once a high-tech energy plant is installed, this cork dust will be used to provide the heat and electricity for the factory. With this energy plant installed, factory operations will approach a closed loop system. Not only is this an environmentally friendly move, it also makes economic sense; the energy plant has a four-year payback period.
