Vida Grandis ^TMflooring is made from Eucalyptus Grandis grown in the Northeast province of Corrientes, Argentina. The wood species has a Janka Scale rating of 1150, slightly harder than Teak. Vida Grandis^TM flooring is made of wood sourced from plantations certified by the Forest Stewardship Council. This means the forests are being managed in a way that ensures long-term productivity and protects local cultures, economies, wildlife, soils and recreation.

Our vendor follows rigorous standards from both an environmental and a manufacturing standpoint. They were one of the first in Argentina to be certified through FSC. The company also demonstrates a leadership role in their own community by offering a clean and safe workplace, by assisting health care centers in the prevention of Dengue and other diseases, and by donating products to fire brigades, hospitals and schools.

In June 2005 Latin America at 6 million hectares, was leading the world in the number of hectares of tropical forests certified through the FSC. Much of the impetus for this growth is local communities interest in the long-term economic benefits of maintaining healthy forests. Becoming FSC-certified keeps forest from being converted to agriculture only to be abandoned after few short years for new more fertile soil. Under the FSC guidelines, indigenous people have the opportunity to stay near home, earn a livable wage, and have a voice in business operations while contributing towards healthy forests and a more intact ecosystem.

Vida Grandis flooring is 3/4 inch thickness milled to NWFA standards with tongue-and-groove on all edges. Lengths are one foot to seven feet.

Vida Grandis is an unfinished solid wood product. Job site conditions shall conform to NWFA best practice conditions and shall be installed and sanded per NWFA standards.

Apply finish per manufacturer's instructions. We recommend OSMO Hardwax Oil or Safecoat Polyureseal BP.

The subtle hues of Vida Grandis make this flooring a perfect candidate for staining. We recommend OSMO Professional Color Oil.

Caution: Test the finish on a sample of the wood and make sure you like the effect.
