Preparation
Apply only to sound, intact surfaces. Loose areas should be repaired or anchored to
produce a firm base. Remove grease, oils, dust, dirt, wax and unsound prior adhesive.
Allow surface to dry.
We recommend gluing down a small piece of the new flooring to be sure surfaces are
prepared properly. Spread adhesive with the recommended trowel, press on a piece of
the flooring, wait 72 hours and pry it loose. Adhesive should stick to both pieces.
Testing is particularly important for parquet and wooden flooring. Pieces tend to
vary in consistency and may have a tendency to warp. Again, seal the bottom of the
material with
Safecoat Safe Seal
to help provide a moisture barrier.
For maximum adhesion, apply a thin coat of AFM’s Safecoat Safe Seal to the substrate
and if possible to the back of the tiles before spreading the adhesive and laying the tiles.
Application
Always have
good ventilation.
Use the proper trowel:
· For Mexican pavers and ceramic tile, notches should be 1/8 inch or
larger. (In general, use v-notched trowels for walls and square-notched
trowels for floors.
· For wall tiles, use a 3/16-inch notched trowel.
· All other applications require a 1/16-inch notched trowel.
Use only where room and surface temperatures are 55°F to 90°F. All
tile must be at room temperature and above 55°F.
This adhesive cures rapidly, so spread it on only 16 to 20 square feet at
a time. Let it to set up for a few minutes (usually not more than 10 or
15). Then place tiles on the wet, tacky surface. If the adhesive skims over,
scrape it off and reapply.
