About our carpets
What we sell
We sell carpets for both wall-to-wall installation and area rugs. Each has advantages and disadvantages.

1. Fibers
2. Yarns & weaves
3. What we sell

Wall-to-wall
Wall-to-wall carpets are securely anchored, so they don't shift or pose a tripping hazard. They provide a surface that is warm and soft everywhere. And when company's on the way, they clean up fast with a quick pass with a vacuum. However, these carpets usually require far more yardage than area rugs, which adds to their cost. Professional installation is required. And when wall-to-wall carpets become soiled, they must be cleaned in place.

Most of our carpets are available as roll goods for wall-to-wall installation. They are sold in widths ranging from 9 feet to 13 feet 2 inches.

Many of our plant-fiber carpets are suitable as wall-to-wall carpets. However, carpets made solely of jute, coir or paper are not. Carpets that combine these fibers with other fibers often work very well.

Custom bindings
All of our broadloom carpets can be custom-bound as area rugs. You can obtain them in any size you desire, even widths that exceed the capacity of the looms. (Our binding services can stitch several lengths of carpet together.)

Area rugs are used in combination with other types of flooring, even wall-to-wall carpeting. They can define areas within a room, such as a nook for reading, or set a fresh tone for a room even when the paint and main flooring don't change. They're easy to move. And, when soiled, they can be rolled up and shipped out for off-site cleaning, which is generally more effective than in-home cleaning. The downside of area rugs is that they tend to shift or slide. It's possible to trip on an edge.

To approximate the look of wall-to-wall carpets but gain the advantages of area rugs, order custom-bound carpets sized to your rooms.

We offer a wide variety of bindings. They include cotton tapestry as well as various styles and widths of cotton canvas, leather, wool and jute. Custom binding costs $2.49 to $13.59 a lineal foot, depending on the type of binding. For mitered corners, add $16.69 per corner.

Pads
For wall-to-wall carpeting, we offer two choices: Our all-natural wool carpet pad is made of wool, camel hair and mohair. Our recycled-textile carpet pad is made of synthetic fibers.

No adhesives are used in these pads, eliminating one factor that has been linked to some indoor air quality problems. The wool pad is needle-felted, which means the fibers are punched into a backing fabric. The synthetic carpet is heat-fused.

The synthetic pad, with four thickness options, is firmer than the wool pad. Customers often choose the wool pad for wool and natural-fiber carpets, and the recycled-fiber pad for our recycled-fiber carpets.
