| By reducing your electricity usage, you not only reduce carbon emissions, but can also lower your electric bill. Many of our energy saving devices will pay for themselves, and then some, over the course of their life span, making them a wise investment. Here are a few commonly asked questions: | |
| Q. What is the easiest way to reduce energy use? A. Switch to compact fluorescent bulbs. CFLs use about 75% less energy, and will last up to 10 times longer than incandescent lights for the same light output. We offer a complete line of CFL bulbs, including: dimmable bulbs, interior and exterior flood lighting, and covered bulbs that look like an incandescent. See our web site for all the available options. |
|
| Q. How do I find out which appliances are wasting the most electricity? A. The Kill A Watt monitor allows you to plug-in any appliance and measure how much electricity it uses. This will enable you to see which appliances are the largest consumers so you can decide how to best reduce your electricity usage. |

| Q. What are phantom loads and how do I stop them? A. Phantom loads are appliances that waste electricity even when they are turned-off or not being used. Surprisingly, 40% of the energy used to power consumer electronics is consumed when the devices are not in use. The Smart Strip has a series of outlets that are controlled by a single controlling outlet and the Isole Power Strip is combined with a mountable motion sensor, both turning off electricity to components when not in use to eliminate phantom loads. |

| Q. What should I look for when buying appliances and lighting? A. Always look for the Energy Star label when buying electric devices. With the help of Energy Star, Americans have saved enough energy in 2006 to avoid greenhouse gas emissions equivalent to those from 25 million cars. |
